"I had a patient that was deemed non-compliant and patient wasn't getting any better. I took the time to get to know him and saw that he was significantly depressed and in large amounts of pain and was feeling hopeless after his injury.

I put all of his appointments on hold (PT/OT, SLP, vocational, multiple specialty physicians) while we focused on getting his pain under control with medication and injections and I got him into counseling and tried multiple counselors until we found the right fit for him. Once his pain was controlled and he was able to understand and embrace his emotional well being, we started aggressive therapies and he was able to get back on his feet and independent again.

The rehab process can feel overwhelming and prioritizing the patient's needs while navigating through rehabilitation process is the best way to reach the goal of wellness."
